Frequently Asked Questions
How do lips change with age?
How do lips change with age?
Natural substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid that provide the skin with structure and volume decrease with age. Along with environmental factors such as exposure to sunlight, smoking and stress, which contribute to how our skin ages, which results in the lips and the surrounding areas:
- Volume loss & loss of fullness
- Sagging skin particularly corners of the mouth can begin to droop (commonly referred to as a ‘down-turned mouth’).
- Change in shape & loss of structure – V-shaped area of the upper lip, known as the cupids bow, begins to flatten out.
- Appearance of lines – vertical lip lines that can cause lipstick to bleed may also begin to appear.
By addressing lip & peri-oral volume we can restore a more youthful lip shape, size and position.

Does it the procedure hurt? Numbing?
Pain or discomfort can vary from person to person, with most feeling minor discomfort during the treatment.
Here at FAB, we offer both topical anaesthetic cream or a local anaesthetic block (dental block) to minimise any discomfort for our patients.
Downtime and Post Treatment
Post-Treatment
The post-procedure experience is different for everyone, swelling and bruising is common for most when getting lip enhancement. Some individuals swell and bruise more than others. Lumps and bumps can also be common, these lumps will often soften out over time, so don’t be alarmed if you experience this.
Allow up to 14 days post-treatment for your treatment to settle.
We recommend a complimentary review appointment 2 weeks post-treatment.
Downtime:
+ Exercise or excessive sweating (saunas, steam rooms etc.) for 24-48 hours.
+ Wearing make-up for 24hours.
+ Direct UV exposure.
+ Consuming alcohol in the first 24 hours (to avoid thinning the blood).
+ Do not use AHAs, BHAs, Retinol, or Vitamin C for 24 hours.
+ No facial treatments for 2 weeks post-treatment (for example facials, waxing, laser).
All products used at FAB Inc are TGA approved and our team is trained and experienced in their use.
